COVID-19 APPOINTMENT UPDATE
We have adapted our appointment procedures to best adhere to the health and safety guidelines set out by current government legislation and help us say YES to the dress safely.
Please read all information carefully before your visit.
Health and safety of both our customers and staff is top priority therefore we are strictly following government guidelines surrounding Covid19. We politely ask all brides to read the below key points carefully before your visit to ensure you are fully aware of procedures in place. We thank you for your support at this time.
Distancing must be practiced throughout each appointment. When fitting gowns or taking measurements, PPE will be used to ensure safety is upheld and brides will be asked to turn away from stylists to maintain safe practice.
Each bride may bring FOUR guests to the appointment MAXIMUM
For collection appointments and accessories appointments we are able to welcome bride plus FOUR guest MAXIMUM.
Adults only - Children are not allowed in store.
Waiting areas are unavailable therefore ask all brides to arrive on time for the appointment as we cannot allow entry earlier than scheduled. Should you arrive earlier we will be unable to assist until appointment time allocated and cannot allow entry.
Each appointment is 90mins as standard which includes measurements, order time, and payment. This must be adhered to strictly as we have a thorough cleaning protocol after each appointment, therefore please bare this in mind when selecting gowns to try on.
Cotton washable gloves will be provided when touching any stock. Bride's guests are politely asked to refrain from touching any products within the store to reduce risk touch points.
Hand sanitising gel and hand washing facilities will be available at all times during appointment. You will be required to hand sanitise on entry to the store.
Face masks are to be worn at all times. Brides and Guests must bring their own masks; however, should you require, we have disposable masks available to purchase a £3 each.
ENTOURAGE - FOUR GUEST WELCOMED WITH EACH BRIDE
To ensure guidance is followed during COVID19 restrictions, we are welcoming brides to bring four guests with them to appointments. No exceptions. Our luxury studio is beautifully spacious therefore appropriate distancing can be easily maintained, and as always, all brides get exclusive use of the entire studio for the appointment so there is no contact with others however monitoring footfall in and out of the store. Hummingbird Top Tip: A truly perfect and memorable appointment is always calm and beautifully intimate, therefore, we advise our brides to carefully select their entourage to ensure they have the most special journey finding the one! We are more than happy to accommodate any video calls should you like to allow any others to take a peek before the big day.
APPOINTMENT IS A MUST
You will need an appointment to visit us whether bridal gowns or accessories. All bridal and accessory appointments require a non refundable £25 deposit on booking to secure which is fully redeemable against your purchase. We work with one bride at a time so that we can give you our undivided attention and the best service possible. You’ll have the full run of the shop so you can have a relaxing and intimate experience! Our standard appointment is 90mins from start to finish and we allocate time in between each booking to thoroughly clean and disinfect all areas and items ready for the next appointment. We stress it is extremely important to arrive on time for your appointment as we cannot offer waiting areas or early entry into the store under any circumstances to avoid contact during this time. If you do find yourself arriving a little early please stay in your car or take a little wander around the fabulous Fox Valley retail park until the appointment time is met - we are lucky enough to be surrounded by some lovely eateries, bars and cafes which are perfect for a celebratory visit before or after saying YES! Please note if you are a little late this will eat into your appointment time and we are unable to extend any appointment due to turn around times required to disinfect and avoid any cross overs.
All purchases require payment in full on purchase and accepted payment methods include Debit/Credit card , BACS or Cash only.
THE RIGHT TIME TO LOOK FOR YOUR WEDDING DRESS
A bride looking to purchase a designer gown needs to be saying yes and purchasing latest 10 months before your big day, but any earlier is really all the better to ensure a smooth process from start to finish. When it comes to wedding dress shopping all designer gowns are made to order especially for you, so you will need to allow time for it to be lovingly stitched. Leaving it last minute can cause unnecessary stress, so as soon as you are ready to find the one that is the time! We will always go above and beyond to help our brides, however please be aware our standard lead time is up to 26 weeks for gown production. Some designers provide rush orders, however please note these do come at a small additional fee and are not always guaranteed to suit your needs. Please also remember most brides will need alterations to make sure the gown is perfectly fitted and this can also take 16weeks so this should be factored in to your timings.
SAMPLE GOWNS & READY TO WEAR
All our gowns in store are samples. Once you select your gown, a new one will be made just for you. Our samples in store range in size from (UK) 8 to 16, and our Curve Range caters for sizes 18-26 instore; but our gowns are available for reorder in UK sizes 2-32, depending on designer. Remember, our samples will rarely fit anyone perfectly when trying on so a pinch of imagination is always required - but your stylist for the appointment is highly trained and experienced in garment technology, so will walk you through exactly how each style will fit you when it is your size or if you would like any custom changes. Please bare in mind that bridal is sized very differently to high street sizing and do run smaller than high street sizing, so should you have any sizing queries prior to your appointment please contact us.
In store we do offer a vast range of 'ready to wear' gowns that are store samples available to take home the same day at a reduced cost - gowns in our ready to wear range start from £899 and are available in one size per style. Please indicate on booking if you are looking to purchase a ready to wear gown so that we can assist you with availability. You will pay for all ready to wear items in full to take them away same day - we cannot save any gowns or accept deposits to hold due to high demand.
PREPARATION AND WHAT TO BRING
During the current circumstances, guests will be required to wear face masks during appointment and all staff will also wear appropriate PPE. We require all customers to provide their own face coverings, which must cover both the nose and mouth fully without openings. Disposable masks are available to purchase for £3 before entry if required.
We advise our brides to wear suitable NUDE and seamless underwear to their appointment, and also bring along a pair of shoes that is roughly the heel height you are wanting on the big day (This doesn't have to be THE shoes, just some shoes that give us a good idea). For the sake of our delicate gowns, kindly avoid wearing heavy makeup, instant fake tan or jewellery that could soil or damage our gowns; We must advise the stylist will use judgement and reserves the right to refuse appointment should excessive fake tan or products be worn to the detriment of the designer gowns.
We want you to feel your best whilst trying on so in our experience any TLC prior to appointment is always beneficial – and what a perfect excuse for a little bit of pampering!
BUDGET AND PRICE POINT
A REALLY important preparation, and we find it's best to keep budget in mind when making your selections to try on. Be sure to prepare your price point ahead of the appointment, and it also helps to discuss this with your entourage too so that they know what to keep in mind. Our gowns currently range between £1500-£5000. The stylist reserves the right to refuse try ons of gowns that are not realistic to budget in order to protect the gowns from unnecessary wear.
VERY IMPORTANT : Check out our 'Designer' link on our website which outlines each designer and their average price point, this ensures you know what each designer retails at so you're not surprised on arrival or disappointed if budget doesn't work with the designers catching your eye. Remember, your big day deserves distinction and our price points reflect quality fabrics, couture design, impeccable hand finished detailing and ultimate fit - We strongly urge brides to take a good look at our website and at each designer to ensure you are happy with the price points before booking as we will never put a bride in a gown out of budget unless we agree this is affordable.
Your gown may need slight tweeks after the dress has arrived with us and this is completely normal. We affectionately refer to the bride who does not require any finishing touches 'The Unicorn Bride', as this is pretty rare! When this time comes, we recommend an out of house, highly trained and incredibly skilled alterations team who can take you through this simple process with confidence and hold private alteration appointments within their own equipped studio. This process usually requires 16 weeks as standard, all determined on the arrival of your gown, and is an additional cost directly to the seamstress and not to Hummingbird Bridal Studio, so ensure you factor this in to your budget which will be payable on completion of work nearer the wedding date. Alternations and fitting appointments are agreed and arranged strictly between the bride and the seamstress following the collection of your beautiful gown.
